Barbara J. Webb

Barbara Jean Dority Webb was born December 25, 1938 to her parents Alonzo and Verdell Dority. Barbara attended the Gary Public School System and later graduated Salutatorian from Roosevelt High School Class of 1956. After high school, Barbara was joined in marriage with her husband, Larry Webb. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and worked for the Gary Community Schools as a teacher and reading specialist for over 35 years. Barbara was also a member of the Kindergarten Club. She was a kind person and always had a warm smile and quick wit.  Barbara loved being with her family, entertaining friends and enjoying art fairs and plays. She will truly be missed. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Alonzo and Verdell Dority and husband Larry Webb. She leaves to cherish her memories her brother Harvey (Patricia) Dority of Sacremento, CA; sister Lelia Phillips of Park Forest, IL and Beverly (Roy) Pratt of Gary, IN; sister-in-law Jacquelyn Webb; special friend Chester Williams; godson Samuel (Diane) Smith, Jr. and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
