Bonnie Jean Miller was born December 2, 1944 in Sallis, Mississippi to her parents Mr. John and Lillie Miller. Bonnie professed her love and hope in Christ on August 27, 1957, at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Kelly and worked diligently under the leadership of Rev. K. B. Long Sr. Bonnie then united with Greater First Church under the leadership of Bishop Tavis Grant, II whom she loved dearly.
Bonnie graduated from East Chicago Washington on January 22, 1963 and received her associates degree from Calumet College of St Joseph. Bonnie was employed with the Lake County Department of Welfare for 32 years before retiring. She was active as a community precinct committee person for 12 years and an active member of Club East Chicago Black Expo.
Bonnie departed this life on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Lillie Miller; grandparents Oscar and Elnora Brown; brothers Willie Ethridge, Roy Miller and Clyde Miller. Bonnie leaves to honor her love and memories by her 2 sons Keith (Owana) Miller of Hammond, IN and Aaron (Toi) Miller of Indianapolis, IN; 2 brothers Johnny Miller of Gary, IN and Robert (special friend Faye) Miller of Marshall, WI; 2 sisters Mae Ola Hunt of Chicago, IL and Brenda Miller of Fairfax, VA; aunt Nora Ethridge of East Chicago, IN; 6 grandchildren Keiona ( Sean Conway) and Keaira, both of Hammond, IN, Ma’Riya of Racine WI, Aaron Jr., Skylar and Micah , all of Indianapolis IN; 2 great grandchildren Ayiona and Deandre, Jr. both of Hammond, IN; 2 sisters-in-law, Sadie Ethridge of Hobart IN and Shirley Miller of East Chicago, IN; special cousin, Inez Ewing of Georgia; 5 special friends Rosalee Edwards, Mary Morris Leonard, Johnnie B. Jacobs, Jessie Spencer and Eleanor Moore all of East Chicago, IN and a host of other family and friends.
