Erma Jean Johnson

Erma Jean Johnson was born June 10, 1936 to Mr. & Mrs. Egar Rogers in Jackson, TN. She was the 11th child of 12 to this union. Affectionately known as Jean, she accepted Christ at an early age and later moved to East Chicago, IN. Erma graduated from Washington High School and completed Special Operation Academy and graduated in 1985 with her degree. Erma was employed at St. Margaret Hospital for 8 years. Afterwards, she was employed at Inland Steel Corporation in the janitorial department. After years of faithful and hard work, Erma was later promoted to crane operator. She later retired in 1996 after 32 years of service.  She joined True Light Fellowship and was a member for several years. Later, she moved her membership to Faith Temple COGIC where she was a faithful member for years before her untimely passing. She loved music, traveling, and cooking and most of all, she loved God and her church, church family and friends.

Erma Jean Johnson passed away at the age of 82 on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2:30PM at home. We will miss that beautiful smile of hers.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents, two children, and 3 brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories her brother Marvin Roger of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren Tim, Kim, Joe, and LaKisha; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; special friends the Leonard family, Catherine Gueyser and family, Martin family, Moore family, Jefferson family, Blakely family, Cousins Family, Vernon Morris and Ethel Boyd and a host of other family and friends.
