Jesse Barrera

Jesse Barrera was born May 21, 1965 to his parents Jesus and Lilly Gonzalez Barrera in East Chicago, IN. He was the oldest of 2 children. Affectionately known as Chewy, Jesse was baptized into the Catholic faith at an early age. He attended East Chicago Public School system and later graduated from Washington High School in 1983. He later received his Associate Degree in Science from Vincennes University in 1985.

He was employed at Ameristar Casino in East Chicago, IN as a casino host for 21 years until his passing. Previously, he was employed with Workforce Development and spent many years as a Disc Jockey. Jesse married Paulette Rodgers on March 28, 2002 and remained proud residents of their hometown East Chicago, IN.

Jesse enjoyed cooking and attending various sporting events. He took pleasure in traveling with his lovely wife and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Jesse Barrera, age 52, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IN.

He leaves to cherish his beloved wife Paulette Barrera; stepsons Larry (KaTasha) Stribling and Lawrence Stribling; stepdaughter Taleshalon (DaShun) Stribling; granddaughter Aaliyah Stribling; grandsons Julius and Elijah Stribling and E’Shun Swanson; sister Carmela Barrera; nephews Dennis (Keshia) Ray of Oak Creek, WI and Devin Findley; great nephews Bryson Ray and Dacarri and Jamari Findley; great niece Sophie Ray; uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Loretto “Baby Lou” Gonzalez and a host of other cousins, other family and friends.
