JoAnn Allen was born on October 6, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Roy Lattimer and Corrine Allen of Canton, MS. She was an only child. She graduated from Park High School in Chicago, IL. She had three sons and worked at Kraft Nabisco Food in Chicago. She confessed Christ and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN under the leadership of Rev. Rodney Golson. She enjoyed attending church and sometimes attended prayer meeting, She loved being around people. She enjoyed listening to music, playing games, especially dominoes. She grew closer to her second family (the Bakers) who she had known for over 40 years. She loved and cherished her play mother, Mrs. Bessie Baker, and her play brothers and sisters. Joann departed this life on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Joann is preceded in death by her parents Roy Lattimer and Corrine Allen. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving, caring, special friend for over 41 years, Jonas Relf of East Chicago, IN; three sons Stacey McMurty, Arthur Allen, and Johnnie Allen; 4 grandchildren Lashonda McMurty, Aaron Allen, Leonard Manning and Kesha Allen; 5 greatgrandchildren; Baker family and a host of relatives and friends.
