MINNIE MAE BAILEY was born November 9, 1926 in Panola, Alabama to Sam Hill and Mary Hudson. She was joined in matrimony to Sam Bailey in 1947 and later moved to East Chicago, Indiana.
MINNIE accepted Christ at an early age. Minnie was a devoted member of Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN where she sang in the Inspirational Choir, served on the Senior Usher Board, helped in the kitchen and was on the Mother’s Board until her health no longer allowed her to do so.
MINNIE was a “Jack of all trades” and was very gifted. Minnie loved to cook, tend her garden, a seamstress, beautician, great baker and so much more. She worked for St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond, IN and retired after 30 years of service.
MINNIE was the matriarch of the family. She kept the family in church and made sure they were in Sunday School every Sunday.
MINNIE was preceded in death by her husband; Sam Bailey, Sr., sons; Sam Bailey, Jr. and Eppi Bailey.
MINNIE leaves to cherish her memory three children, Willie (Earlean) Hill, Sr. and Rev. Shirley Bailey of East Chicago and Emmastein Hardin of Indianapolis IN; 11 grandchildren, 5 granddaughters, Valerie (Roy) Franklin, Angela ( Lawrence) Jones, Rhonda Hardin, Rashada Hardin and Mitsia Bailey; 6 grandsons; Sam Bailey, III, Jermaine Bailey, Corey Bailey, Willie (Amy) Hill, Jr.., Mackenzie C. Hill and O’Dell Hardin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Henderson; 25 great-grands, 22 great-great-grands, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
