Steven Maurice Lee was born October 4, 1947 to his parents Edwin and Eloise Lee in Chicago, IL. He was the third child to this union. Affectionately known as Stevie, he grew up in Altgeld Garden Housing in Chicago, IL He accepted Christ at an early age and stayed true to the Catholic faith and attended George Washington Carver High School and graduated in January 1966. Steven worked a short time at Interlake Steel in Riverdale, IL. before going to work for the Chicago Board of Education for 35 years at Wendall Smith School. Steven later moved to Indiana and then married Pandora Matthews and a had a true and loving marriage of 20 years. He was a hard-working, driven man. When he set his mind on something, he did it! He was good with his hands and he loved to work on cars, “anybody’s car.” He was known as the local mechanic in the neighborhood. People would often say, “Take it to Steve. He can fix it.” Steven would often say when you leave his sight, “Watch out for those other people.” Steven departed this Earth on Friday, November 9, 2018 at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, IN. He was 71. Steven is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Eloise Lee; siblings Eugene, Arwilda, and Jeffrey. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Pandora Lee; children and step-children Kelly Rogers, Mark Lee, Maurice Lee, and Janna White, Walter Matthews, Michael Matthews, Rachel James, Dave Rogers, Nicole, and Elizabeth Hammond; brother Clifford Lee; grandchildren Jordon, Brittany, Maurice, Malcolm, Autumn and a host of nieces and nephews.
