Thomas Cobb, Jr. was born August 30, 1950 to his parents Thomas and Mattie B. Cobb, Sr. in East Chicago, IN. Affectionately known as Junior, Thomas was educated in the East Chicago Public School system and later graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago, IN. Thomas was employed for the City of East Chicago Sanitation Department for 25 years. Thomas Cobb, Jr. passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IN. He was 68. He will be remembered for being an amazing father who always went above and beyond for his children. He enjoyed family time and creating random quotes and jokes. Thomas enjoyed fishing and listening to jazz and blues music. His favorite saying was, “I bet you a nickel to a doughnut.” He was the town mechanic and the Early Bird of Carey Street Tree People. Thomas was a pillar in our community.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Mattie Cobb, Sr.; wife Louise Cobb; son Elton Cobb and brother Lenard (Billie) Cobb. He leaves to cherish his memories his children Charlotte Banks, Rachell (Emmet) Dickson, Thomas (Candice) Cobb III, Janise Nixson, NaLayah Hatton, Rosia (Tremaine) Cobb and Talahya (Kendall) Andrews; granddaughter Anniya Cobb; siblings Willie Cobb, Elton (Tuggie) Cobb, Mayola (Louis) Williams, Shirley Anne Powell, Denise Pennybaker, Ricky Cobb, Shawn Cobb, and Bessie (Jimmy) Cobb; partner for 11 years, Angela Alston; 30 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
