Viola Ray

Viola Ray was born May 2, 1934 to her parents Tony and Alice Myers in Jackson, MS. She was the oldest of eight children. She received Christ at an early age at joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN under the leadership of Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade, Jr. Viola Ray was a faithful member and loved the outreach ministry and handing out her informative flyers until her health began to fail. She was a homemaker and a loving wife to the late Dennis Samuel Ray and a great salesperson. She raised 8 wonderful children and helped raising the neighborhood children. She was the mothers of all mothers and we miss her dearly.

Viola passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Regency Hospital in East Chicago, IN at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her parents Tony and Alice Myers; husband Dennis Ray; daughters Bobbie Jean Darden and Linda Boykins; sons Phillip Ray and Tony Jackson; great grandchildren Shamyra Lewis and Andre Davis.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children Howard Kelly, Jr., Dennis Samuel Ray, Jr., LaTroy Ray, Andrew Myers, Bauchelle (Brenda) Ray, Corraine Myers, and Aloma (Sandy) Ray; grandchildren Barbara Jean, Lisa Darden, Keith Darden, Antania Darden, Howard Kelly, Omar Kelly, Andrea Agular, Linda Boykins, Julius A. Jordan, Hendri M. Boykins, Johnathan D. Boykins, Jessica L. Mayes, Jeremy D. Boykins, Allah R. Boykins, Eddie L. Anderson, Tony Jackson, Tony, Jr., Stephanie Jackson, Brenda Ray, Lacresha Davis, Andrew Davis, and Walter Lewis III, Dennis Ray III, Jasmine Sanders, Eddie Ray, Aloma Sandy Ray, Dennis Ray, Jonathan Ray, Phillip Noel Ray, Ladrea, Trinity, Noah and Lyric, Keisha, Tawanna, Phillip, Jr.; a host of great-great grandchildren; special friends Natalie Robinson, Earleen Myers, Stacy Winfield, and Eugene Henderson and family and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
