Andrew Brooks, Jr.

Andrew Brooks, Jr. was born on November 27, 1947 in East Chicago, IN to his parents Andrew Brooks, Sr. and Mrs. Emma Lou Carrillo. Andrew attended Eugene Field Elementary School and Washington High School in his beloved hometown of East Chicago, IN. Later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 and was honorably discharged. Andrew was a 100% serviced connected disable veteran and mentored and helped other vets acquire their benefits.

Andrew had many talents and had worked in various steel mills, factories, sales industry and the corporate sector.

Andrew had a generous soul and enjoyed life. He was loved and will be remembered and missed.

Andrew Brooks, Jr. passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents Emma Lou Carrillo and Andrew Brooks, Sr.; stepfather Jose Diaz Carrillo; grandson Andrew Brooks IV all whom he loved so much.

He leaves to cherish his memories his son Andrew (Viretta) Brooks III; sisters Johnnie Mae (Robert) Lewis, Karen Francine Jackson, Theresa Jones, Amelia Diaz Carrillo and Clarissa Diaz Carrillo; brothers Kenneth W. (Genita) Brooks and Charles Walton and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
