Annette Pruitt

Annette Pruitt Obituary/Virtual Registration

Annette Pruitt was born on October 28, 1957 in Tunica, Mississippi to her parents Mr. and Mrs. James and Ruby L. Pruitt. Annette was the second oldest child born to this union.  Annette is affectionately known as “Annie” (given to her by “Mitch” Lewis). Annette received Christ in 1976 at the age of 18 while attending Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. J. C. Wade, Jr.  During her time at Zion Missionary Baptist Annette sang in the Celestial and Chancel Ensemble Choirs and directed the 100 Voice Children’s choir for several years.  She also served as a Sunday school teacher and instructor for the Single-Parent Mentor class.

Annette graduated from East Chicago Washington High School, June, 1975.  Her other educational endeavors include:

            Harold Washington College, Chicago, Illinois (1999), Paralegal Certificate Program

            Crosby Quality College, Deerfield, Illinois (1992), Quality Improvement Process Management Certificate, Quality Education System Instructor Training Certificate.

            Calumet College, Whiting, Indiana (1975-1977). Associate Degree, Business Management and Administration.

            Friends International Christian University, Merced, CA. (May/2016), Doctor of Biblical Counseling.

            Living Word Christian Center School of Ministry, Forest Park, IL. (June/2012), Certificate Diploma.

            Friends International Christian University, Merced, CA. (July/2003), Master of Biblical Studies Degree (Issued by Chicagoland Christian Center Bible Institute, Chicago, IL., an affiliate of FICU).

Annette began her professional work career at Lake County Equal Opportunity Center, Hammond, Indiana and Continental Bank in Chicago, Illinois prior to 1985.  Annette also was employed at:

            Sanwa Business Credit Corporation, Chicago, IL. (1985-1989) as an Administrative Assistant. Amoco Corporation, Chicago, IL. (1990-1992) as a Senior Secretary. National Association of Realtors, Chicago, IL. (1993-1997) as an Executive Secretary, and Richard L. Weiss & Associates Chartered, Northbrook, Illinois from October of 1997-2017, as a Paralegal-Secretary until she retired in 2017.

 

Annette was always involved in several church ministries throughout her life.  She was a passionate bible instructor and biblical counselor educated and trained in biblical studies and biblical counseling.  She was dedicated to motivate spiritual and personal growth and to inspire Godly living.  Annette was an enthusiastic bible teacher and communicator and was driven to illuminate and liberate the minds of believers through the practical teaching of the Bible and personal empowerment.

Annette served at Chicagoland Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor, Dr. Marshall Davis where she was a volunteer of the CCC Bible Institute and Theological Seminary serving as an Instructor, Writing Coach, and Thesis Editor.  She also served as a Life Application Instructor/Facilitator, Foundation Ministry Facilitator, and Youth Group Mentor-Instructor.

Annette also took her ministry abroad where she did mission work in Belize and traveled and toured with the Calvin Bridges Ensemble to Europe and Switzerland.  She additionally served in the Chicago Arts Music organization as a Recitalist under the direction of Vocal Coach Extraordinaire, Phillip Welch. 

Annette most recent ministry work was serving at the Living Word Christian Center, Forest Park, IL. From 2013 until her passing, she served with the CanaanlandKidz 4 Christ as a Bible Teacher, and served with the Pastoral Care Team.  Annette served the Lord with gladness, and ministered to God’s people with a graceful heart and spirit.  She was very patient and it took a lot to upset her however, if you did upset her you would get a sermon you will always remember!

Annette loved to sing, teach, write poetry, go shopping, travel and spend time with her family. She would always get excited around the holidays when she knew family would be coming over and made sure every had enough of everything! We will miss the way Annette’s singing ministered to all people, her loving and giving spirit, how she counseled us and others when needed.  Most of all, we will just miss her altogether!  Annette was called home on January 10, 2021 at the age of 63.

Annette is preceded in death by her father, James Pruitt, Sr., her eldest brother, David L. Watson, and sister-in-law Lorene Pruitt.  She leaves to cherish her memory, Ruby L. Pruitt (mother), Two brothers, James Pruitt Jr. (June), of East Chicago, Indiana and Damond Pruitt, of Indianapolis. Indiana.  Three sister, Sadie L. Pruitt, of Horn Lake, Mississippi, Patricia A. Boyd (Michael), of Calumet City, Illinois and Angela Lewis (Michael “Mitch”) of East Chicago, Indiana.  Three God-children, Jade Cooper, of Phoenix Arizona, Michael A. Lewis Jr., (Star) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Michaela A. Boyd, of Calumet City, Illinois.

Annette also leaves several uncles, aunts, hosts of nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish her memory.
