On Sunday April 2, 2023 at 8.05AM God sent his angel to deliver Benjamin Dennis Jr. to his eternal resting place. Benjamin who was affectionately known as “Buddy” was a proud native of Garden City, Louisiana and a resident of Hammond Indiana.

Benjamin Dennis Jr. was born December 6, 1946 to Benjamin Dennis Sr. and Myrtle Lee Dennis. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Sullivan Wells in Kramer, LA.

Benjamin was a member of First Union Free Will Baptist Church. In 1964 after graduating from high school Benjamin relocated to Gary Indiana and joined Mt. Hermon M.B. Church under the leadership of the late K.B.Long Sr. Until his passing he was a faithful member of the Kingdom Builders Church founder the late Bishop R.J.Kyles Pastor Jacquille Campbell.

“Buddy” served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed at United States Steel Gary Works for 37 yrs before retiring.

He loved football and baseball both of which he played in high school, he was even a baseball coach for the Maywood little league. Buddy was a loving husband, father, grand & great grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

Benjamin Dennis Jr. is preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin Dennis Sr. and Myrtle Lee Dennis, Siblings: Ovesta Dennis, Myrtle Mae Wilson and James Dennis Sr.. Brother-in-Laws: William Swanson, Hermon Wilson Sr, Willie Davis, Taylor Coleman, Anthony Jackson, Aunts: Mable Alexander, Martha Diggs, Elizabeth Diggs, Gloria Diggs, Edna Diggs; Uncles: Frank Diggs, Herbert Diggs, Albert Diggs and Johnny Diggs, Daughter-in-Law: Sha’neka Daniels.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Wife: of 56 yrs Ellen Dennis; two daughters: Gwendalyn((Wilbert) Boyd, Trinette(Derrick) Moore; two sons: Rodney(Quana) Dennis, Byron Dennis: 7 grandchildren: Rodney(Taylor) Dennis, DeShon(Emerald Obie) Moore, Christopher (Shamara White) Boyd,  Brandon Boyd, Aubrianna Dennis, Braylon Dennis and Zayvion Dennis, 3 great- grandchildren: Riley and Rhys Dennis, Kamelia Dennis. God son: Ian Barkey,

 3 Sisters: Gerri Swanson(Deer Park, TX), Doris Coleman(East Chicago, IN), Linda Davis(Hammond, IN), Sister-in-law: Vergie Jackson(Jackson, MS), 3 Brothers: William(Christine) Dennis(Franklin, LA), Leroy Dennis(Franklin L.A), Henry(Veronica) Dennis (Franklin LA), 1 Uncle: Hermon(Geraldine) Phillips. Close Friends: Sidney Howard, Clarence Butler, Henry “Rev” Fontanette, Ike Edwards, James”Bo” Hicks Sr., Rev. Robert Weems, Louis Odom, Melvin McGhee, Isaac Fuller.
