Berthetta Morgan was born May 16, 1955 in Muskegon Heights, MI to her parents Billy and Bertha Sutton. She was the second child of six born to this union. Affectionately known as Bert or Mrs. B, she accepted Christ at the age of 13 and attended Our Lady Gate of Heaven. Berthetta attended Bowen High School and graduated in 1972 and later attended Olive Harvey College to study Business. She was later employed for the Seaway Bank as a teller in Chicago, IL for 8 years and she worked as a Cook County Correctional officer for 10 years. Berthetta married Thurman Morgan and had two sons, Thurman, Jr. and Elliot and later had twins Dena and Dana. Berthetta enjoyed playing bid whist, bowling, sewing, and running a Boston on the spades table. She will always be remembered for her personality and her sense of humor. Berthetta Morgan passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Hammond-Whiting Nursing Home in Hammond, IN. She is preceded in death by her fathers Billy Sutton and Edward Gray; son Thurman Morgan, Jr.; brothers Darvin Sutton and Deontia Sutton; grandparents Eddie Sutton, Mattie Sutton and Vernia Burt. She leaves to cherish her memories her mothers Bertha Sutton and Grace Sutton; son Elliot (Hadisha) Morgan of Chicago, IL; daughters Dana and Dena Sutton of Gary, IN; brothers Larry (Jean) Sutton of Michigan City, IN, Darwin Wilcoxon of Chicago, IL, and Stine Sutton of East Chicago, IN; sisters Tanya Sutton on East Chicago, IN, Dr. Stacey Gray-Akyea of Minneapolis, MN, and Phaedra (KaTina) Sutton of Calumet City, IL; grandchildren Ashley, Tannitha, Kylee, Enylah, Josiah, Kaiden, JaKaria, Markel, TaShawn, Taveon, Chloe, Cailee and Deniah Berthetta Wash; special uncle Rev. Hilliard Burt; uncles Jerry Burt, Roosevelt, and Tony; special aunt Allie Glee Hospkins; aunts Emma and Patricia; nieces and nephews Anthony, Darmaile, Christopher, Pierre, TaWanna, Tanya, Jr., LaTanya, Stine, Jr., Larry Reggie, Johnathan, Bridgett, Nicky, China, Mustafa, and Keefa, Cashton, and Senam; bestfriend Mildred Little and a host of other family and friends.
