Billie Ruth (Tucker) Holmes was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She died on December 20, 2020 at age 74.
She was born in Canton, Mississippi to Almatine (Webb) and John D. Tucker on September 7, 1946. After graduating from high school, Billie Ruth attended Purdue University, where she majored in nursing. While at Purdue, Billie Ruth met and married Dr. John Wesley Holmes. Together, they had three children: John Alan, Elizabeth Ann, and Kathlene Alysia.
Billie Ruth spent over 20 years being a full time mom and homemaker raising her family in Stamford, Connecticut. In 1995, Billie Ruth returned to Indiana to be closer to her brothers and sisters and her large extended family in the Greater Chicago Area. There she launched her work at the Apostolic Church of God devoted to bible studies. One of her passions was to spread the gospel to individuals in her community. She was proud to earn her Evangelist certificate and work with nursing homes to care for the elderly. In fact, Billie Ruth never passed up an opportunity to share the love of her Savior. She enjoyed preaching, singing hymnals, and spending time with her siblings and children.
