Donald Edward Boyd, Sr, was born December 11, 1955 to his Parents Eugene and Ethel Boyd in East Chicago, IN. Donald was the fourth child born to this union. Donald attended East Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Washington High School in 1973. He was employed at Inland Steel and later enlisted in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge and returned to Inland and retired with 30 years of service.

 

Donald received Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN under the leadership of W. H. Robinson. He rededicated his life back to Christ at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor David Blakely. He became a faithful member and was appointed a deacon of the Deacon Board. He also served as the Sunday School Dept.Treasurer, he was a member of the Men’s Choir and always helped in any capacity needed and was known for giving out peppermint candy to his church family. Donald had such a big heart and a smile that would light up the room.

 

Donald was an avid sports fan and body builder. He was a gun and comic book collector and loved watching classic black and white movies and listening to music.

 

Donald transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Boyd; father, Eugene Boyd Sr.; brother, Eugene Boyd Jr.; sister, Jeanette Boyd; brothers, Earven Boyd Sr., David Boyd Sr.; granddaughter, Brianna Marie Birdsong.

 

Donald leaves to cherish his loving memories, his children Donald Boyd Jr., TaDonja(Aaron) Coffer, LaDonna Wolfe,TyNiqua(William Jr.) Birdsong, Brian Boyd, Ira Boyd and Myisha Boyd all of Indianapolis, IN.

 

Loving mother, Ethel Boyd of East Chicago, IN; sisters, Darlene Boyd-Hobbs of Tupelo, MS, Kathy Boyd Toodle of Columbus, GA, Angela Boyd of Memphis, TN and sister-in-law, Darlene Boyd of East Chicago, IN; 9granddaughters and 4 grandsons.

 

4 Loving Aunts, Willie C. Smith, Lenora Root of Tupelo, MS, Annie Mae Frazier, Arlene Frazier of East Chicago, IN and 1 uncle, Charles Frazier of Tupelo, MS.  Also preceded in death by 2 aunts, Carol Lindsey and Ophelia McCray.

 

Special friend, Mary Williams and granddaughter, 7 nieces,9 nephews and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
