Later, Edna was adopted by Leola Hardaway of East Chicago, IN and was brought to the Zion Missionary Baptist Church of East Chicago, IN where she accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade, Jr. Edna joined the usher board, the Golden Fellowship and was a faithful member of the 7:30AM early morning worship and 9:00AM Sunday school.

Edna worked for the City of East Chicago public schools as a custodian for 8 years but had to take an early retirement due to injuries. Edna met the “love of her life” at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Deacon George Reginald Gaddie.
