Emma Louise Baldwin (Grier) was born December 30, 1930, in Benevolence, GA to her mother Elizabeth Grier.
Later, she attended school in Georgia and after her schooling, she met and married Cheve Baldwin in 1946. To their union, one child, Bernett, was born. In 1950, she moved to Indiana she worked various jobs supporting her family. During that period, she became a member of First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. P.C. Harrison. Emma also served on the Senior Usher board.
In 1991, Emma began working at the Lake County Rehab Center until she retired with over 31 years of service.
Emma was a joy to be around, and she loved her family, especially her great grandchildren. She always said what was on her mind, whether you liked it or not. Her faith in God was strong. Emma enjoyed life and lived hers to the fullest.
Emma Louise Baldwin passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at her home in East Chicago, IN. She was 91.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Grier Evans; brothers Arthur Williams, Willie Grier, Johnny Williams and Sammy Lee Daniels and granddaughter Stacey Snelling.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughter, Bernett Jackson; grandchildren Andrea (Dwayne) Butler, Duane Snelling, Sr., LaTanya Snelling, and Nicole (Raifu) Sanusi; 16 great grandchildren including her special great granddaughter Jekeitha Snelling; 40 great great great grandchildren; one sister Ernestine Spire of Cuthberth, GA; one brother Rivon Evans of Cuthbreth, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
