Jacqueline Wesley

God planted a seed and on February 24, 1961 it was fertilized and nourished into a baby girl. Jacqueline "Jackie" was born to the late Katherine and James H. Maxey, Sr. in Gary, IN.

She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1980. She was an Indiana State Licensed Cosmetologist.

Jackie was a dedicated and faithful member at Christ Center Church under the leadership of Bishop Roosevelt Dixon Jr. At Christ Center Jackie served on the Usher Board and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a beacon of light to all young people around her. Children of all ages were drawn to Jackie's love and tender heart. God called Jackie to love, encourage and to provide a structured home to children through the ministry of Foster Parenting. She enjoyed seeing children grow and blossom so much that she was a permanent volunteer at People's Day Care.

Jackie enjoyed all children but the apple of her eye and her heart was her only child, Jaquan M. Martin. There is nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her son. Warm-hearted and direct conversations, laughter and love was the dynamic between the two of them. Jackie's hobbies included gardening, bowling, shopping, dancing and taking pictures. On December 14, 2020 with her loving family near she transitioned from labor to reward. She will be remembered for her style and fashion. We will never forget her confidence, her smile and her unique laugh. She was a loving daughter, nourishing mother, dedicated sister and devoted aunt. She will truly be missed by her family and community.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and James H. Maxey Sr. and her brother James H. Maxey Jr. She will forever be loved by her loving son, Jaquan (Tianna) Martin, one brother: Tyrone (Lisa) Maxey; Dallas, TX. Four sisters: Johnnie (Thomas) Miller, Delores Tatum, Patricia (William) Kelly all of Gary, IN; Jeanette Townsel; Akron, OH. One special friend, Kenneth Donner of Gary, IN. Jacqueline leaves a host of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
