James L Lewis III

James L. Lewis III was born to Kathy Chandler and James Lewis, Jr. on May 25, 2000 in Munster, IN. Affectionately known as Jay, he attended East Chicago Public School system and later employed at Strack & Van Til grocery store in the Deli Department. He was looking forward to becoming a father in the upcoming months. He was a great friend, full of life and loved by many. Jay loved basketball, video games and most of all, his family and friends. He always had a smile on his face. 
James L. Lewis III passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at the University of Chicago Hospital surrounded by family and friends. James is preceded in death by his brother Carlos Velez; grandparents Helen Gandy and Clifton Chandler; aunts Carol Lindsay and Ophelia McCray. He leaves to cherish his memories his parents Kathy (Jimmy) Chandler of East Chicago, IN, James (Shalonda) Lewis, Jr. of South Bend, IN and Nicole Lewis; special friend Jada Goshay; brothers Kenneth Chandler and Tevin White; sisters Alisha Lewis, Oceaniana Austin, Miracle White, Kayla Buggs, and Jaysha Brown; aunts Darchell Chandler, Alvernia Chandler, Janie Lewis, Tameika Lewis, and Florence Simmons; grandparents Arlene Frazier of East Chicago, IN and James Lewis, Sr. of Columbus, GA; uncles Eddie Davenport, Jr, Anthony Chandler and Stanley Chandler; Godfathers Lester Chandler, Martell France, Jerry Frazier and Ivan Wilcox; great aunts Ethel Boyd, Annie Frazier, and Lenora Root; great uncles Willie C. Smith and Charles Frazier; nieces and nephews Mercedes, Carlina, Kristen, Kaelin, Kennedy, TaaJae, Ta’Kaiya, Mi’Kel, Matthew, Michael, Kenneth, Tremaine, Lil Carlos, and Ny’Zhair; close friends Davion, Anthony, Corey, Tyrelle, Shaun, Alonte, David, LaMarion, Isaiah, Lamiah, Legacci, Peter, Larry, Dontriel, and LaKeya and a host of other family and friends.
