Jannie Williams Obituary/Virtual Registration

Jannie Delores Williams was born March 29, 1943, to her parents Ozeal and Ruby Williams in Winona, MS. She was the second child born to this union.

At an early age, Jannie received Christ while attending Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mays. She later went on to become a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church until she ascended to the Father.

Jannie earned her high school diploma at Washington High School in East Chicago, IN. She later went on to work at the Albert Givens Sewing Factory for 29 years. After the factory closed, she went on to work for AmeriStar Casino where she worked diligently for 10 years until her retirement.

She was united in holy matrimony to Dolfus Williams on October 17, 1962, and to their union, four children were born.

During her faithful membership at Tabernacle, Jannie served as a member of the women’s auxiliary group for many years.

Jannie was an excellent seamstress and cook who loved gardening.  She is known for having touched the lives of many with her kind words of wisdom and encouragement. Known by some as “Mama”, “Mrs. Jannie”, “Mama Jannie”, “Cousin Jannie”, “Aunti Jannie”, “Sister Dear” and finally “The Fairest of the Urban Maids”.  She is truly loved and will be missed dearly.

Jannie will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
