Jason Henry Swan (fondly known as J Swan) was born September 19, 1982, to Ms. Kim Thomas and the late Clifford Swan, in Munster, Indiana. He was educated in the East Chicago Public Schools and was a member of the class of ECCS 2000.

Jason joined the Zion Missionary Baptist Church, at the age of 7years old and was baptized, by Rev. Dr, J.C. Wade, Jr. His first encounter and love for music began as a member of the 100 Voice Children’s Choir, and he also assisted in the Sound Engineering Ministry during his teen years. Jason’s thirst for music inspired him to further his musical education at the Full Sail University, Orlando, Florida in the Recording Arts, via online studies,

His Legacy

Each year the Dawkins’s family Kwanzaa Celebration inspired him to practice the 7 principals.

He practiced (Umoja)Unity, (Kujichagulia)Self-Determination, (Ujima)Collective Works,  (Ujamaa)Cooperative Economics, (Nia)purpose, (Kuumba) Creativityand Imani (Faith)  Jason had an unwavering and unconditional love for family, he was a great son, a loving father, a dedicated brother, a celebrity among his peers, a successful entrepreneur and entertainer, a friend to many,  and most of all a Child of God. Jason kept the faith, and finished the course.

Jason received his heavenly wings on March 5, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Swan, Maternal grandparents, Henrietta & Royzel Gary, Grandfathers, Quinten Thomas and Jessie Williams, paternal grandparents, Mack, and Maggie Swan.

His Family

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: mother Kim Haliburton, children, Jasmia and Jah’Sun Swan (special friend - Suncearae Coopwood) of Bloomington, Indiana, (3) sisters, Kimberly and Krystal Halliburton, and Christina Swan (mother - Gale Bullock-Harrison), all of Indpls., Indiana, Maude Thomas, Step Grandmother, Gary, IN. (3) Aunts, Patricia Dixon-Darden of Merrillville, IN., Madelyn Warren of Illinois, and Christine Swan-Clay of Gary, IN(1) Uncle, Mack Swan Jr. Texas, (2)nephews Jeremiah Millard, Kendall Ezell of Indpls., IN, special cousins Renard Swan, Milwaukee, WI.  and Trenten Stockdale, Indpls, Godmother, Shirley Miller of East Chicago, Indiana and a host of other relatives and friends
