Johnny Myles Jr. was born on December 1, 1941, to his parents Johnny Myles, Sr. and Mrs. Geneva Myles in Greenville, MS. 

Affectionately known as Cherokee, he attended and graduated from Hammond Technical Vocational High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army and was honorable discharged January 31, 1965. Later, Johnny was employed at the local steel mill where he labored for 30 plus years. Lillie “Red” Jones and Johnny had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. For 40 plus years, she has been by his side until the moment that he took his last breath.

Johnny enjoyed riding motorcycles and was an avid sports fan. Mr. Myles’ grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Johnny’s kind spirit, passion for sports, and zest for life will live on through them.

Johnny Myles, Jr. passed away February 7, 2022, at his home in Hammond, IN. He was 80.  

Johnny rejoins his loved ones, grandparents Mr. John and Edna Myles; parents Mr. Johnny and Geneva Myles; aunt and uncle Lenwood and Callie Lindsey; uncle James Lindsey and cousin Patrick Lindsey.

He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved life partner Lillie Jones, Hammond; One daughter Aarynn (Donovan Jr.) Myles-Bernard, Hammond; One Grandson Donovan Bernard III, Hammond; One son Chris Myles, Gary; One Honorary Son Robert Williams Jr., Hammond; One Honorary Daughter Lisa Williams, Rockford, IL; 4 Honorary Grandchildren Joseph Wilson, Asia Bunch, Desire Wilson and Da Shawn Williams; One loving Aunt Rosie Bly, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
