Joritha Hardy was born on April 6, 1957 in East Chicago, IN to her parents Joseph and Albert Hardy. She was the last child born to this union. Joritha became a Christian at an early age at Tabernacle Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN. She later transferred her membership to Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO. While attending Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Joritha served on the usher board, actively worked with the youth department, and read the morning announcements.
Affectionately known as Jo, Joritha graduated in 1975 from East Chicago Washington High School where she was a phenomenal cheerleader. After high school, she attended Western Michigan University and Stevens Institute of Business and Arts.
Jo worked for Nestle’ Purina Petcare Company for forty years. During her four decades, Jo served in many roles. She danced in the old Purina Variety show from 1979-1984. She was a receptionist in Human Resources and secretary of the Risk Management Team. She reached a milestone goal working on the 15th floor joining Latin American team with Fernando. Jo retired in 2018 as an Executive Administrative Assistant with the Latin American team.
After work and during her retirement, she was an usher for the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. During Jo’s spare time, she loved working in her yard “park” and enjoying the outdoors by walking in Forest Park. Joritha (Jo) Hardy was a refined, elegant, stylish, cultivated, polished, knowledgeable, wise, and sophisticated woman who would illuminate a room with her phenomenal presence.
Joritha Hardy passed away Monday, September 14, 2020. She was 63. Joritha was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Albert Hardy; nephews Eric and Radamus Mohn and niece Adriene Yancey.
