Kylah Elliott was born on February 29, 1976 to her parents Johnny Cousins and Karen Jackson in East Chicago, IN. She was class president and a graduate of East Chicago Central High School, class of 1994. After graduation, she attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and ultimately graduated from Kaplan College.
Some of her many skills and certifications include: being an ordained minister, singer, massage therapist, cook and most importantly the glue that kept her family together. She had a reputation of doing the absolute most, especially when it involved her family, friends and the community. She was employed with the East Chicago Housing Authority. She held a special place in her heart for the elderly and children.
Kylah Elliott passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at her home in East Chicago, IN. She is preceeded in death by her children, Kayleon and Kaliah Tidwell; sister, Adia May; maternal grandparents, Emma Lou Carrillo and Lee Bailey; paternal grandparents, Vanzola Dukes, Sam Love and Ruth Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents Karen Jackson, Johnny Cousins and Richard Love; husband Hortense Elliott; children, Keyaareon Brown, Kamiyah Jackson and Keelan Elliott; siblings, Charles (Tasha) Hunt, LaStar (Dorothy) Jackson, Karen Jackson, Richard (Natasha) Love Jr., LaToya Love, Eric May and Charles Cousins; sisters-in-law Antoinette Elliott and Paulette Kemp; brother-in-law Fard Elliott; special aunts, Theresa Jones and Shirley Faye Cousins; special cousins, TeCha (Craig) Lott, Nikkia Mackie-Wilson and Sharliah Walton; special friends, Tanya Whetsell, Darlene Rosario-Reese, Trevesha Collins and Hilda Aleman; Godchildren, Jeremy Simmons, Orlando Simmons, Bria Brumfield, Re’Mohna Rosario and Joseph Morris; aunts and uncles, Clarissa, Amelia, Johnnie Mae, Charles, Kenneth, Sandy, Royce, Zena, Samuel and Myrtle; special nephews, Jasonni, LaSalle, and LaStar; nieces and nephews, Kyahh, Kalup, Kevin, Kylion, Chasity, Naveh, Peter, Oshea, John, Deion and Brittany and a host of many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
