Linda “Faye” Pelt was born February 9, 1945 to the parentage of Archie Lee Brown and Ida Mae “Clanton” Brown in East Chicago, Indiana. Linda found her FAITH as a young child, baptized at Zion Baptist Church of East Chicago, IN in 1956, later attending Antioch Baptist Church of East Chicago, IN. Linda gave birth to her only child, a beautiful baby girl in 1962. Linda was a scholar of the East Chicago School System, attending Riley Elementary and graduating from E.C. Roosevelt High School in 1964 with honors after sitting out a year.

After graduating high school, Linda began her career at Albert Given's sewing factory in East Chicago, IN and served as union representative. On March 7,1968, Linda Faye married the love of her life and devoted husband of 53years, Ernest Pelt. Linda relocated to Gary, IN after marriage, where she began working as seasonal USPS mail carrier. In 1976 she returned to her passion of sewing at Arthur Winer sewing factory in Gary, IN where she became duly accredited AFL-CJO Union Counselor in1983, dedicating many years of service until 1990 closing due to outsourcing to China. Linda was blessed to began her secondary education with Arthur Winer awarded severance grant. In1992,Linda Faye graduated from Ivy Tech Nursing School as a License Practical Nurse. Linda served as devoted nurse over the next 24 years, in various locations including Lake County Rehabilitation Center as MDS Coordinator, AAA Home Health as QA prior to retirement after a 2014 CVA.

Linda Faye, a loyal Wife, devoted Mother, phenomenal Nurse, and Believer, truly a Woman of Virtue, gorgeous, loved and respected by all she knew. She loved ice cream, shopping, dancing, playing games on her computer,  spending time with her family and friends, televised worship service, and gospel music, really all music because she wasn’t above DMX & Kanye West either. She was truly the epitome of Grace and loved unconditionally. There wasn't a holiday or celebration that went by without Linda's presence. She truly loved creating memories with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making every moment count.

 

OnSaturday,May15,2021,Linda went home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents Archie Lee Brown, Sr. and Ida Mae “Clanton” Brown; her maternal grandmother Etta Lou Clanton, brother-in-law Isaac (Josephine) Pelt, mother-in-law Eleanor “Stancil” Pelt, her grandson Fredrick “JayR” Morrow, Jr., Heaven’s Very Special Child, and childhood best friend Toni Hackett.

 

She leaves to cherish her devoted husband, Ernest Pelt of Gary, Indiana, beloved daughter, Demetrius T. Morrow of Indianapolis, Indiana, one sister, Shirley Mae Brown of Macon, Georgia, three devoted granddaughters, Demetria "DeeDi" (Arthur) Newell, Tyler Fayeshawn "Peaches" Dawson, and Deanna "Nonna" Dawson all of Indianapolis, Indiana. Six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jayion, and Janila Thruston, Kyree, Kadence and Dream Dawson, all of Indianapolis, Indiana. Three brothers, Donald, Ronald, and Archie Lee Brown Jr. Her loving sister-in-law, Josephine (Isaac) Pelt of Gary, Indiana, Niece and Nephew John, and I’Lynda Richmond, Yolanda (Raymond) Williams, and Walteretta Morrow.and a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
