Obituary/Virtual Registration

Margie Green was born August 28, 1926, to her parents Jake Logan and Maggie Waddington in Winona, MS. Margie was the third of three children. She had one sister Annie Lee and one brother, Manuel. She attended schools in Winona, Mississippi.

Growing up Margie loved the outdoors.  Her brother Manuel and she used to play on the banks of the Mississippi.  Manuel and Margie went everywhere together. She brought along with her, her favorite pet, a pig named Nunee.  At a young age Margie learned the value of hard work.  She was a “find-a-way-to-do it” kind of person.  Bereaved of her mother at a young age, she assumed many of the homemaking responsibilities. However, she had to do so without the benefit of having been taught those skills.  So, she taught herself and often in quite ingenious ways.

Many people have been blessed by the skills she developed as a young woman helping out around the home.  She used those skills to minister to her family, neighbors, and church members, always with humility and meekness. Margie served faithfully in the ministry.  She was a hard worker who served at Zion Baptist Church.  She sang in the choir, greeted guest, and served faithfully as a mother of the church.  As her health declined, she was unable to continue most of her activities, however, she loved her church family and made mention of them quite often.

She married the late Willie H Green, on December 19, 1973, in East Chicago, Indiana.  As a selfless wife, she poured her energies into meeting the needs of her family and made many sacrifices to ensure the success of those she loved.  Margie worked for years as a housekeeper and dispatcher.  Hard work was all that she knew.  Margie was an active member of the eastern stars, along with her late husband Willie Green. They enjoyed traveling the country attending different events on behalf of the eastern stars.  Other leisure interest included traveling to baseball games and she loved watching Wrestling, both live and on television.

God ushered Margie into eternity on Monday, January 31, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Green. Margie is survived by: her niece, Marguerite Thomas, her great nephews, Wali Thomas (Waleeda), her grandnephews, Ethan Thomas, Michael Jackson, and Josiah Thomas, friends, Celestine Hodges, and Steve Tolbert, the Zion Baptist Church family, and several brothers and sisters in Christ.

We look forward to the reuniting with her when Christ calls us home.
