Marion Alex Jackson was born March 22, 1943, to his parents Wilie Allen and MaryBell Jackson in Starkville, MS. He was the sixth child born to this union. Affectionately known as Alex, he received Christ at an early age and later became an entrepreneur.
Marion managed and created several businesses in his lifetime. He owned and operated a small grocery store located on 11th Ave in Gary, IN, a resell shop and a small construction business. Marion was an undertaker for a funeral home called Nicholas Funeral Home and he also worked as a cab driver. He was also a Mason and a member of the King David Lodge #100 in Chicago, IL.
In 2005, Marion met, Mildred Muhammad Jackson as was married shortly after.
Marion had many special sayings and phrases he would say often including:
“It’s hard, but it’s fair.”
“What’s up Joe”
“Never leave God”
“Blood is thicker than water”
“We are Jacksons! We can do anything”
His family will miss his advice and his laugh and the way he was able to cheer anyone up. His smile and meaningful talks.
Marion Alex Jackson passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie Allen and MaryBelle Jackson; sister Lucille Lampkin; brother-in-law A.B. Lampkin.
Marion leaves to cherish his memories his children, Anthony (Yvonne) Jackson, Denette (Victor) Vital, Marian Michelle Jackson, Patricia (James) Officer, Sheila Russel, Mickey (Ebony) Cason, Christopher Muhammad and Ayanna Jackson, Cuba (Lynn) Jackson, Dorcus King, Doreen Jackson and Jonathan Jackson; brothers Willie Jackson of Merrillville, IN, George (Eugenia) Jackson of California, Andrew Jackson of Starkville, MS; sisters Hattie (Joseph) Watt of Chicago, IL, Sadie Watt of Starkville, MS, Julie Jackson of MS and Dorothy Watt of Starkville, MS; grandchildren Anthony, Jr. (Denitra), Larry (Tequila), Kenyanna, Lavor (Tori), Anton (Kenyatta), Antoinette, Angelique, Ashleigh (Luke), Bradley, Lexi, Megan (Kironde), Jade, Jessika (Frank), Joi (Asa), James IV, Judah, Seraphina, Mikayla, Brittany, India, LaToya, Tariq, Sharif, London and Mya; 38 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
