Mark Bailey

Mark Bailey, affectionately known as “Beanie”, was born August 13, 1960 in East Chicago Indiana to his parents Clarence Threatt and Lula Bailey.

Mark accepted Christ at an early age and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in East Chicago Indiana.

Mark later graduated from East Chicago Washington High School. He ran cross country and joined the basketball team while in high school. He was a “star” player, and played on the varsity squad as an underclassman. The team went to Semi-State in 1977.

After graduation, Mark attended Tugaloo College in Mississippi on a basketball scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in accounting.

Mark was a loving husband, and a friend to many, never meeting a stranger. Mark was a generous giver who would give a person the shirt off his back if they needed it.  He always wore a smile on his face. He was an avid believer in education and especially loved Mathematics. Mark always wanted people to strive to be the best that they could be.

Mark will be missed dearly.

Mark is preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents; sister Karen Stone and a host aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Katrina; mother Lula (Roosevelt) Williams (Merrillville); Father Clarence (Penny) Threatt of Colorado; Daughter Kristen Hudson of Chicago, IL; Son Marius Bailey of Houston, Texas; Step-Daughters Alisha Rogers and Janay Nalls; one grandchild and two step-grandchildren; Sisters Ina Threatt (Georgia) and Lynn Threatt; brothers Bruce (Kimberly) Threatt (Atlanta, Georgia), Martell (Collette) Threatt and Nathan Gale (Denver, Colorado. Special Cousins Ujuana Flanagan-Pickett and Ralph (Rhonda)  Stone (Best Friend); step siblings Glensheler (Charles) Mubarak, Bettie (Stephen) Daniels and Roosevelt , Jr. (Denise) Williams  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
