In Wilma, Arkansas, on January 17, 1941, the late Mollie Faye and Dameon Pippin birthed one of 10 children. They named the child Maxine Faye. Maxine was a special child because she was delivered by the mid-wife to her mother. She graduated from Robert S. Abbott Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago, Illinois. After relocating to Chicago, Maxine married Michael Nickleberry, and to this union her only child Michael Nickleberry, Jr. was born. She loved him with all of her soul until the day of her transitioning. Later Maxine married Mr. Jesse Carroll.
Maxine was a loving and caring individual who would help any and everyone in need. Everything that she did was done from her heart, and she never looked for anything in return. She took out time to care for her younger siblings, always making sure their hair was nice and well-groomed. Maxine was always very meticulous in everything she did, especially in growing plants. She had an outstanding “green thumb” for plants. If anyone had a sick plant, Maxine would care for it, and nurse it back to health.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Ray B. Williams, Sr. When she committed her life to Jesus Christ, she was totally dedicated and committed to her God. Mother Carroll was a member of the International Miracle Crusade of Church of God in Christ where she served as a church mother. She was very happy and committed to this office until she transitioned.
Mother Carroll departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at approximately 5:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Damon, Fred, Demaris and Sonny. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Michael Nickleberry (Serneicia); her brother, Joseph Pippin, Chicago, Illinois; her sisters, Pastor Dr. Veronica Williams (Sr. Pastor Dr. Ray Williams) East Chicago, Indiana; Linda Davies, East Chicago, Indiana ; Patricia Pippin, East Chicago, Indiana; Evelyn J. Wright, Chicago, Illinois; five grand children; Michael Nickleberry III, Aaron Nickleberry, Nikiya Nickleberry, Nichole Nickleberry, and Stephon Nickleberry; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the IMC Church Family who loved her very much; and a special niece Keyna Stowe who took care of her until the end.
