Rebecca Harris was born August 11, 1939 to her parents, Caesar and Lena Smith, in Greensboro Alabama. Rebecca gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. J.C. Wade, Jr. where she served on the Young Adult and Senior Usher Board, Sunday school, and Golden Fellowship ministries. After Rebecca graduated from Parker High School in 1957, she married Sylvester Harris and together, they moved to East Chicago, IN in 1964. They were married for over 50 years and shared four children together. Rebecca worked for the East Chicago School System in the cafeteria for over 25 years. She loved serving the students at school, cooking, sewing at home, and dressing up for Sunday service.
