Ricky Culver

Ricky Davon Readus was born October 16, 1995, in East Chicago, IN to his parents Rev. Howard Readus and Mrs. LaTina Culver-Readus. He was the first child born to this union. Affectionately known as “Rick the Ruler,” he received Christ at an early age at the Church of God in Christ in Gary, IN. 

Ricky attended and graduated from Central High School in East Chicago. He then attended college at Indiana University in Terre Haute, IN where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2017. 

Ricky love God and often talked to others about his faith and patience. Ricky enjoyed playing basketball, spending time with his family and friends and attending church and school. One of his favorite sayings was “Leave it to God” and “Education and faith will take you far in life.” Ricky, his personality and what he stood for and believed in will be missed dearly. He accomplished so much in his 27 years of life, and he will always be remembered for his smile, kind words and as his family’s hero. 

Ricky passed away March 16, 2023, at the age of 27. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. Howard Readus, Jr. and Mrs. LaTina Culver-Readus and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters JiMies Hagan of East Chicago, IN and Tasha (Aaron) Readus-Robinson of Indianapolis, IN; brothers Samuel Readus, Gerard Hagan, Joshua Readus all of East Chicago, IN, Jamal Hagan of Lafayette, IN and Howard Readus III of Indianapolis, IN; 15 nieces and nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, other family and friends.
