Robert Earl Williams, affectionally known as “Boonie” was born in Hammond, Indiana on May 30,1945 to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie and Julia Mae Williams.
He accepted Christ at an early age and later converted to Islam. Robert was educated in the Hammond Public School system. He self-educatedin many areas of the law and took many courses on aspects of legal studies.
Robert began his military service in 1967,when he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served in the Vietnam War.He valiantly fought in and survived the Battle of DAK TO. Earning him the following honors: Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge,Army Commendation Medal, and thehonorable, Purple Heart.
Robert was a fun-loving man with loads of personality. His smile would light up a room and his laughter would warm the soul.Robert made everyone feel loved and appreciated. He loved to make others smile, often by reciting one of his famous quotes or one liners such as“I’m in it to win it!” or “Anything else would be uncivilized.” He was happiest when helping others. He simply loved to give.Robert’s pride and joy were his children and his grandchildren, especially his grandchildren.
Robertpassed away November 28, 2021, at St. Margaret’sHospital in Hammond, Indiana. He was 76 years of age.Robert is preceded in death by his parents,Johnie and Julia Mae Williams; brothers, P.W. Williams, John Williams, Michael Williams, Sr.; sisters,Dorothy Thompson, Johnnie McNeil, Patricia Carver, and June Shaw.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Kenneth Williams of Los Angeles, CA; daughters,Theresa Williams of Gary, IN, Tonya Hunter of Tuscaloosa, AL, Sherlon(Earl) Evans of Hammond, IN and Kamekia (Levorn) Martin of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren:Juan, Toni, Jean-Claude,Mercedes, Marquis, Julian-Paul, Mikhal, Arkites, Alexis,Aaron,Ja-lisamarie, Isiah, Duprese, Eric, Demaree,Beautiful,Reign Supreme, Aston Prestige, Goldie Glory, Seven Reignbeaux; sister, Gerty Giles of Matteson, IL; brother, Bennie (Erma) Williams of Germantown, TN; dedicated nephews, Terrence B. Glover and Roy Goodman, Jr both of Hammond;close friends, Morris (Bernadette) Lewis of Brownsville, TN, and Joseph Issa, Issa Foods in Hammond, IN; 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
