Trustee Ross Dolan Mounia, affectionately known as “G-Kakes,” was born in Gary, Indiana to the late Webster, Sr. and Bernice Mounia on September 12, 1948. Ross was the third child born to this union. He accepted Christ at an early age, rededicated his life through baptism on July 5, 2015, and served as Trustee and a choir member at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James H. Hunter.

Ross graduated from Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, Class of ’66. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army. Later, he was employed at Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor, for over 20 years. Ross was a very sweet, loving, and kind man with a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, Elaine, his children, and grandchildren. Ross loved traveling with friends, playing chess and tennis, and riding his bike. Also, he was a phenomenal skater. Ross will always be remembered for his charisma and the smile that could brighten any room.

Ross and his former wife, Lela, raised two daughters, Bertina Berry-Hall and DeAndra-Mounia Williams. In October 1993, he married his devoted wife, Elaine. To this union, he was blessed with two bonus sons, Royce Love, Jr. and Maurice Love, Sr.

Ross was preceded in death by his loving parents: Webster, Sr. and Bernice Mounia, his grandmother: Bertha Mounia, his sister: Edrina Mounia-Coulter, his brother: Webster “Dan” Bradford Mounia, Jr. and his aunt: Blanche Mounia Hawkins.

Ross exchanged time for eternity on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Elaine Mounia, daughters: DeAndra (Damien) Williams and Bertina (Darrell) Berry-Hall; bonus sons: Royce (Ty) Love, Jr. and Maurice (Antalaya) Love, Sr., one brother: Rhulette “Rudy” (Dorothy) Mounia, five sisters: Juanita Connell, Berthola Mounia, Priscella (Richard) Wilson, Michele (Randy) Hardy, LaTonda (Darryl) Finch and Nykula (Farda) Gilliam, Grandchildren: Delani Deon, Dominick, Royce “Trey” and Maurice “Moe Moe,” Goddaughter: Kaneka “Nikki” Vaulx, one brother from another mother: Clifford (Susan) Lee, Childhood friend: Hassem Abdur-Raheen, one brother-in-law and chess partner: Al Coulter and a host of extended family and friends.

He will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved him.
