Rudell "Rudy" Shaw was born to is parents Harper and Carlean Shaw on January 7, 1959 in Chicago, IL. Rudy later graduated from Harper High School where he played baseball as a pitcher. He continued his education at the University of Southern Illinois (Carbondale). After enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp., he moved to Northwest Indiana, making Hammond, then, finally, East Chicago, his home.
Rudy studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses during the 1990s. The love for God and his Word moved him to become baptized in 1995. Rudy took the advantage of many employment opportunities. He enjoyed his time at O’Hare Airport. However, being a self-employed recycler/scraper was his favorite job; he liked the late-night ventures.
Rudy, as he was called by the many people he met, was quite the comic. He has a knack for telling humorous jokes and stories. At times, he displayed his charming and playful side. It was the things he did with his family that brought him great happiness: discussing the bible with his wife and children, fishing especially with his kids, and having his offspring work with him selling reclaimed goods. He was a strong believer in “one man’s trash being another man’s treasure.”
Sadly, Rudell passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 surrounded by his wife, his children, and those who knew him well.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Della; daughter Tarah; sons Cecil and Duran; brother Jerry (Barbara); nephew Jenard (Isis), and a host of other relatives, spiritual brothers and sisters, and friends.
