Sharon R. Balentine was born on April 9th, 1954, in Blue Island, Illinois to Mabel Seals and the late George Balentine.
She attended Calumet High School and Chicago Vocational High School in Chicago, IL. Sharon also received her CNA license from the City Colleges of Chicago. She also later discovered her talent in doing hair and received her cosmetology license from John Amico School of Hair in Chicago, IL.
Sharon moved to East Chicago, IN in 1986. With the love she had for kids Ms. Balentine also started working for Headstart in East Chicago.
She was an amazing grandmother, a wonderful mother, and a well-rounded woman. She raised everyone’s children like her own. She has made an impact on everyone that knows her.
She loved play bingo, go on her casino trips and cooking. Out of all the jobs she maintains throughout her life. The job that brought her the most joy was babysitting. She enjoyed the love that surrounded her. She lived a full life. She was a warrior, a survivor, and now everyone’s personal guardian angel.
She had a lot of hobbies in which she enjoys and passed down to her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sharon had so many families she had adopted as her own. She loved, loved, loved kids and with that love for kids she adopted/ helped take care of brought joy to her heart. She was a lot of fun to be around.
Sharon was the proud mother of three daughters. She treasured every moment in her role as Granny and showered her granddaughters and great grandchildren with love and affection.
She passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022. She was 67 years old.
She is proceeded in death by her Fathers George Balentine and Cleveland Seals Jr. Brother Donald Balentine and honorary grandson Daniel Burns Jr.
Sharon is survived by her daughters LaToya Balentine-Butts (Dwayne Butts), LaTasha Balentine-Taylor (Earl Taylor), and LaTanya Balentine. Honorary daughter LaTasha Dodds. Her granddaughters Nakiyah Bassett, Amber Butts, Johnea Price, and Desiree Balentine. And her great grandchildren Richard Hammonds Jr., Khamari Hammonds and Khalil Kimbrough. Honorary grandkids Dymin Moore, Faith Morris, Kymonie Morris, Liberty Morris, Lorenzo Reed Jr (Tay), Nikeem Reed (Goodie), Lanie Morris, Malachi Weaver, Joylynn Seay, Erica Gage, Da’Quan Dodds, Eric Gage Jr. Very special niece Noella Seals.
She leaves loving memories cherished by her siblings. Sharon had five sisters Towanna (Marcus) Helms Blue Island IL, Diane (Duane) Lewis Peoria IL, Vanessa Seals Chicago IL, Sharon Calbert and Rochelle (Esse) Franklin Chicago IL. She also had three brothers Roger (Therine) Seals Chicago IL, and Cleveland Seals III Chicago IL. And a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles.
She was surrounded by supportive friends by the names of Bonnie Ross, Mary Williams, Eloria Johnson, Lodine Hunter, Lamont Ross and many more friends.
Her spirit will be in our hearts forever! She showed nothing but love and will always be remember for that.
