Walter L. Person

Walter “Walt” Person was born February 11, 1961 to his parents David Lee and Jessie Mae (Spears) Person in East Chicago, IN. Affectionately known as “Walt,” he accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN. Walter attended East Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Washington High School. He was a loving and kind person. Walt loved spending time with his family and friends and watching TV. This is when he was the most happy.

Walter will be missed by all who knew him!

Walter Person passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Valparaiso Care and Rehab Center surrounded by his family and close friends. Walter is preceded in death by his parents David Lee and Jessie Mae Person; maternal grandmother, Melissa Spears; paternal grandparents David and Annie Person; three sisters Gertha McClain, Catherine Neal and Era Bell; two brothers James and Robert L. Person.

He leaves to cherish his memories his sister Versie Person of East Chicago, IN; two brothers Edward Person of East Chicago, IN and Willie Person of Neenah, WI; 24 nieces; 10 nephews; special niece and caregiver Patricia McClain and the entire staff of the Valparaiso Care and Rehab Center and a host of other relatives and friends.
